Also known as the Thomas-Rogers Act, it extends the 1934 Indian Reorganization Act to tribes within the boundaries of the state of Oklahoma. These two acts are developed by John Collier, Commissioner of Indian Affairs from 1933 to 1945, who wants to change federal Indian policy from the “twin evils" of allotment and assimilation to supporting Indian self-governance.
